If you want to experience historic racing and sports cars in action, the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix is unmissable

Every year, this captivating event on the Nürburgring attracts thousands of classic car lovers to the Eifel region. And each time, the major draw is not just the nearly 600 competitors, battling for victory and a high ranking with their top-class vehicles in numerous races, but the attractive supporting programme. Fans of the Porsche brand know that at the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix, they will be greeted not just by the thrilling atmosphere of the race circuit, but also by a wealth of fascinating information about all things Porsche.

Strong in the bends: Porsche celebrates 40 years of the transaxle.
The 44th AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix will take place at the Nürburgring from 12 - 14 August 2016. In keeping with tradition, Porsche will be taking part once again this year.

Porsche Classic will be presenting itself on a 14,000 m2 area in the immediate vicinity of the race track. In focus: the Porsche transaxle era. Between 1976 and 1995, Porsche built a generation of Sports Cars that moved away from the proven principles of a Porsche 911 – these are the types 924, 928, 944 and 968. The Porsche engineers in Weissach attempted a new technical beginning with water-cooled front engines and a transaxle at the rear axle. The four model ranges also struck out in a new design direction.

The transaxle models won new fans for Porsche the world over, and sold almost 400,000 units. Behind the success lies a philosophy that is typical for Porsche: the perfect combination of sportiness and everyday usability. Reason enough to make these models the focus of this year’s Porsche presentation at the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix.
