You’ll be able to get the Kona with two petrol engines and one diesel. Four-wheel drive is available on most options (unlike the front-wheel-drive-only C3 Aircross) and so is Hyundai’s own quick-shifting seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The petrols make the most sense if you’ll use the Kona for short to medium journeys – power ranges from 120-177hp so performance should be similar to the Nissan Juke and better than the Citroen C3 Aircross. The 1.6-litre diesel has 130hp and should be perfectly suited for slogging down the motorway and will be the best pick if you do lots of long journeys.
