New Hyundai Kona Electric

All-new Hyundai Kona Electric SUV (production-ready) has been official revealed by the South Korean carmaker. Ready to make its global debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show next month, the compact SUV is the first electric vehicle in its segment to offer two battery options. While the longer-range 64kWh battery pack delivers a range of 470km from a single charge, the smaller capacity 39.2kWh pack offers 300km of range. While the torque (394Nm) and top speed (167kmph) figures of both the batteries are same, the power output stands at 133bhp and 200bhp for the shorter and longer range variants.

As mentioned above, Hyundai has confirmed the electric version of the Kona for the Indian market. The EV will come with two battery options (first-in-its-segment) – 39.2kWh and 64kWh – offering a claimed range of 300km and 470km from a single charge. The former produces a top power of 133bhp with 394Nm of torque, the latter one delivers 200bhp with 394Nm. The smaller capacity battery can do 0-100kmph in 9.3 seconds and the longer-range version takes 7.6 seconds to achieve the same. The top speed of both the battery packs stands at 167kmph.

The lithium ion battery pack can be charged up to 80% in minimum 54 minutes from a 100kW fast charger in long-range form and maximum 9hr 40min and 6hr 10min from a standard AC power plug for the long and short range versions respectively.
